In memory of Maria Biesu - 85 years since birth

He was born on August 3, 1935 in the village of Volintiri in the Ştefan Vodă district, and this year, she would have turned 85 years old. Over time, through hard work, perseverance and devotion to music, she brought the fame of the Republic of Moldova around the world. We are talking about Maria Bieşu, the former prima donna of the National Theater of Opera and Ballet, an institution that currently bears her name.

"The best Cio-Cio-San in the world", is the qualifier that has accompanied Maria Bieşu throughout her life, after she participated in the International Singing Contest "Miura Tamaki" in Tokyo in 1967, where she played the role of Cio-Cio-San in the opera "Madame Butterfly" by G. Puccini. From here, she was awarded the First Prize for the best interpretation of the role. Until then, but also since then, the career of the National Opera's prima donna has been on the rise.
