"We in the future of CO2" - a new public debate, RMT brand

On Wednesday, September 16, at 14:00, Radio Moldova Tineret (RMT) invites you and waits for you in the online public debate with the caption: "Climate change: do we prevent it, fight it or adapt?". The event is organized on the zoom platform and on the Facebook page of Radio Moldova Tineret.

Even in the context of the pandemic, the concept of climate change is current. The two are closely linked: emissions have fallen as people drive less and industries stop. However, the pandemic influences the climate and surprising and often counterintuitive dynamics begin to appear. Government policies during the COVID-19 pandemic have drastically changed energy demand patterns around the world. Many international borders have been closed and populations have been confined to their homes, which has reduced transport and changed consumption patterns.

Global daily CO2 emissions fell by -17% at the beginning of April 2020, compared to average levels in 2019, less than half compared to changes in surface transport. But it's not enough. Climate change cannot be stopped in half a year. However, we can talk about how we can reduce the effects of climate change in the public debate.

Representatives of the Environment Agency, representatives of non-governmental environmental organizations, students and pupils are expected to debate.

The online debate "We in the future of CO2" is part of the series of public events organized by Radio Moldova Tineret in partnership with the Friedrich Ebert Moldova Foundation. The event will be moderated by RMT presenters Alexandru Gheţan and Alina Bacalov.

All interested young people can watch and comment LIVE on the event on the Facebook page of Radio Moldova Tineret.
