Saint Basile Church of Ialoveni celebrates for the first time its patron

St. Basil the Great, one of the saints who performed the greatest miracles, considered a guardian of evil spirits, is celebrated today by Orthodox Church. Today is also celebrated the old-rite New Year. At the Church of Saint Basil the Great in Ialoveni there was a special holiday today. For the first time, the holy place that is currently under construction celebrated its dedication, reports Moldova 1.

Although it is under construction, the Church of Saint Basil in Ialoveni was overcrowded this morning. The feasting service was officiated in the basement of the holy place.

Relatives of those who bear the name Vasile came to the church with gifts.

As stated by the priests, St. Basil the Great is one of the most important parents of the Orthodox church and one of the greatest Christian theologians.

According to tradition, Christians and priests have sown wheat to have a richer year.

In Moldova, statistical data say, more than 53 thousand men are Vasile, and another 16 thousand are baptized Vasili. Among the ladies, the most popular name is Vasilisa, borne by over four thousand women.
