Swine fever in Hânceşti

In the town of Hancesti, quarantine was announced after a swine fever outbreak was detected on a farm near the locality. Thus, 21 pigs were slaughtered and incinerated.

According to officials from the National Agency for Food Safety, the virus was detected a week ago, and the quarantine status will be maintained for 45 days. Experts say that the first measures to prevent the outbreak have already been taken.

At the same time, during this period, it is forbidden to sell pigs in the town, but also to slaughter them. The farmer will not be compensated, because the animals were not in the records of the authorities.

In the district of Hînceşti, a swine fever outbreak was detected at the end of last autumn. Then, in a peasant farm, in the village of Sarata Galbena, over 30 pigs were slaughtered. Since the beginning of the year, there have been two outbreaks of swine fever in Moldova. The first, in the “Pădurea Domnească” natural reserve, and the second in Knjazevca commune, Leova district.
