The "Lucian Blaga" Theoretical High School in Iargara (Leova) has been renovated

The Theoretical High School "Lucian Blaga" from Iargara, the Leova district was renovated within the project "Education Reform in Moldova" (PRIM), implemented by the Ministry of Education, Culture and Research (MECC) and financially supported by the World Bank. The renovation and modernization of educational institutions, according to the leaders of the MECC, is one of the activities aimed at improving the learning conditions in schools in the country and contributing to the promotion of effective reforms in the education sector.

The "Lucian Blaga" High School in Iargara has been renovated from the funds allocated by MECC. This was made possible by the Project "Education Reform in Moldova", financed from the loan granted by the World Bank. Also, the MECC has allocated financial means for the procurement of the furniture, equipment and equipment needed for the laboratories of physics, chemistry, biology, as well as the linguistic offices. Over 400 children from Iargara and the surrounding localities now benefit from learning conditions in accordance with educational standards. The rehabilitation of the infrastructure of the district schools and their endowment according to the quality assurance standards is one of the priorities of the MECC,” said Natalia Grîu, MECC State Secretary.

In the "Lucian Blaga" High School in Iargara, students from the nearby villages of Baiuş, Meşeni, Hănăsenii de Pădure, Tigheci come to study. The buildings, in which the school is located, were erected in 1954 and 1964. Until the renovation, the institution was in a deplorable state.

"Lucian Blaga" High School is the only educational institution in the town. The reconstruction process took about a year and a half. The renovation of the block of primary classes costs over eight million lei, the reconstruction works of the high school building cost over 15 million lei. After renovation, the school became more popular in the district. It is an important objective for the overall development of our town,” said Eugeniu Mutaf, the mayor of Iargara.

The process of renovating the district schools, selected within the Project "Education Reform in Moldova", continues. Through the Social Investment Fund, in 2020, eight educational institutions will be renovated.

The project "Education Reform in Moldova" is implemented between 2013-2022. The total budget of the Project is $50 million, offered as a preferential loan by the World Bank.
