Lack of drinking water for the inhabitants of Bădiceni

For a cup of drinking water, people wake up early in the morning and go to the well to get the water collected overnight. In recent months, due to the drought, several wells in Bădiceni, Soroca, have dried up. Authorities say there is a project to build an aqueduct, but there is no money, reports Moldova 1.

Most of the wells in the village of Bădiceni have completely dried up. Hoping to fill a cauldron with water, people are forced to walk from one well to another throughout the village.

For domestic use, locals say they use water mixed with mud. For drinking, however, there is practically a battle for every liter.

In the locality, there is an aqueduct to which only a third of the households in the village are connected. However, it does not correspond to biological indices either, the specialists claim, and the water can be used only under technical conditions. The other more than 650 households have to look for water in dry wells.

The local administration claims that there is a project to build an aqueduct, but there is no money in this regard.

"The project is nine million, of which seven million cost the network and two million cost the well together with the tower. We are waiting for sources, maybe from a European project, maybe from the help of the Government, from the District Council," declared the mayor Marin Avorniciţa.

According to the latest census, almost three thousand people live in the village of Bădiceni.
