Out of a total budget of 23.3 million euros, the EU invests 22.8 million to stimulate smart, inclusive and sustainable economic development in the Ungheni and Cahul regions. The EU4Ungheni initiative will involve in the period 2019-2025 the city of Ungheni and its neighboring localities in the district.

The program is implemented by UNDP and UNICEF with the strategic guidance of the Delegation of the European Union to the Republic of Moldova.

At the launching event in Ungheni, there was organized a fair of the local producers, a drawing competition on the theme "How I see my city over 5 years", to which 99 drawings were submitted, as well as a concert with local artists from Ungheni.

"The participation of Ungheni municipality in this program is a great opportunity for the sustainable development of the locality. "I am delighted to be here today at the launch of EU4Ungheni, part of the EU4Moldova program. Last week, when we started this initiative in Cahul, I was impressed by the enthusiasm and determination of the people to contribute and benefit from the expected results,” said Dima Al-Khatib, UNDP Resident Representative in the Republic of Moldova.

"As part of this EU project, we will support the modernization of schools, to make them even more inclusive and friendlier for students, while also offering innovative tools to ensure the empowerment of young people.
