Train on Chisinau - Ungheni route on fire

The locomotive of the passenger train Chisinau – Ungheni caught fire. The firefighters managed to localize the fire so that none of the passengers suffered. The mechanic and his assistant were transported to the hospital, announced the General Inspectorate for Emergencies (IGSU).

"The fire destroyed 80% of the locomotive. The train's passengers did not suffer and the mechanic and assistant of the driver were taken over by the emergency medical service for further medical investigations at the Ungheni district hospital. According to preliminary information, they are supposed to have been poisoned with the combustion products", reads the press release of IGSU.

According to IGSU, the train was composed of a locomotive and two wagons where the passengers were. The fire happened in the evening of July 7.

For the time being, the cause of the fire outbreak is unknown.
