Freight train loaded with cereals catches fire near Vulcanesti town
A freight train on the Basarabeasca - Etulia route with 54 wagons loaded with cereals, caught fire, announces the General Inspectorate for Emergency Situations (IGSU). It happened on Sunday, December 15. No one suffered, informs the IGSU in a statement.
Firefighters were alerted to extinguish the fire at 10:11.
Two crews of firefighters came on the spot and localized the fire in the shortest time.
"Nobody suffered in the fire, but 30% of the surface of the locomotive was damaged. Freight wagons were not affected", informs the IGSU .
The cause and circumstances of the fire shall be determined. In the last 24 hours, IGSU rescuers intervened in 18 risk situations.
