National Human Rights Council set up
The cabinet of ministers approved today, February 11 the decision on the set up of the National Human Rights Council. Its goal is coordinating the elaboration and implementation of human rights policy documents, monitoring and evaluation, implementation of international human rights treaties based on the information presented by the public authorities and other interested people, IPN reports.
The Secretariat will coordinate the work of the public authorities to prepare reports on the implementation of the international human rights treaties to which the Republic of Moldova is a party, as well as the process of national implementation of the recommendations formulated by the international human rights protection mechanisms.
The Council will have local structures to draw up local plans and programs on the implementation of national human rights policy documents.
The establishment of the National Council for Human Rights is provided by the National Action Plan for the implementation of the Moldova - EU Association Agreement in 2017-2019.
