The 13th contingent of Moldovan soldiers is leaving for Kosovo

It ensures peace in conflict regions and represents our country with dignity and courage away from home. We are talking about the 41 KFOR soldiers of the National Army who are embarking on a new mission for six months. The military will be deployed in the peacekeeping operation at the Italian military base Camp Villaggio in Pech, Kosovo, Moldova 1 reports.

Ion Matei is on his second experience as a peacemaker in Kosovo. For the first time, he left to make peace in 2014. He does not see this new mission as difficult, but admits that he will miss his family.

For the engineer Alexandru Atroşcenco, it is also the second mission. He says he loves his job and is always on duty to keep the peace.

The team consists of 41 soldiers, of whom 33 will carry out security and guard missions of military and patrol objectives.

The officials said that the Moldovan peacekeepers represent our country with dignity, because they are Moldova's ambassadors in this peacekeeping mission.

"The best ones were selected, it is a rigorous competition and even if it is the 13th contingent, the feedback was the best. Traditionally, the line is big, that's why only the good ones go there, it's a prestigious mission," said the Minister of Defense, Alexandru Pînzari.

"The Republic of Moldova continues to be actively present in peacekeeping missions, where there are difficult times for humanity. The performance of the Moldovan military is highly appreciated," says Prime Minister Ion Chicu.

The first contingent from Moldova left for Kosovo in March 2014, and since then, 480 soldiers have been deployed on missions.
