COVID-19 in Moldova: 17 deaths and 258 new cases of infection

Another 258 new cases of COVID-19 infection were confirmed today in Moldova. All cases are with local transmission. The balance of COVID-19 cases in Moldova reached 153,112.

The total number of tests performed - 1,256, of which 1,070 primary and 186 repeated.

Of the total number of cases, ten are healthcare workers: five doctors, five nurses.

In all, 2,274 patients confirmed with COVID-19 infection are hospitalized in medical institutions, of which 227 are in an extremely serious health condition (30 patients are connected to assisted breathing).

Another 180 people were treated. In all, 143,330 people were treated of COVID-19.

3,983 people with mild and moderate forms of COVID-19 get treatment at home, and 20,882 are under home supervision.

According to the Ministry of Health, Labor and Social Protection, 17 other people died, including two employees in the healthcare system. These are Constantin Cornea, doctor at the Cimişlia District Hospital and Emil Volconovici, head of the Donduşeni Mental Health Center.

So far, 71 healthcare workers have died from COVID-19 infection.

The total number of deaths caused by the virus has reached 3,267 in Moldova.
