Orthodox Christians celebrate feast of Three Great Hierarchs

The Orthodox Christians on February 12 observe the feast of the Three Great Hierarchs and Ecumenical Teachers Basil the Great, Gregory the Theologian, and John Chrysostom. They were highly influential bishops of the early church who played pivotal roles in shaping Christian theology.

Trisfetite is the popular name of the celebration of the three great hierarchs. In folk tradition, the three hierarchs were considered disease healers.

It is possible, however, that the Christian feast was preceded by a pagan feast of women. In this sense, it is said that the Trisfetites were three little girls who, when God walked on the earth, they gave God drinking water, writes moldovenii.md.

People do not work on this day and a candle is given away, so that all life is enlightened.

On this day, Girls make spells to show them their beloved, they do not work, and they only eat bread and salt.
