How sanitary measures are observed in gyms and fitness

Most sports clubs operate at reduced capacity, after the number of customers has halved. However, their administrators remain optimistic and hope that the low temperatures will bring people back to gym training, Moldova 1 reports.

Mandatory wearing of a mask, temperature measurement and hand disinfection - these are just some of the strict measures required when entering a gym.

"We have different rooms, where there are eight to ten people and we have a room where there are up to 15-20 maximum. If in the group they reached 25-30 people in the big hall, now there are 12-13 people maximum," specified Alexei Buzu, fitness club administrator.

"Obviously, fewer people come to training. If until the appearance of the COVID-19 virus every day I had seven or eight workouts, now there are four, three. There are days when we don't have anyone to train," said Alexandru Ceban, boxing coach.

If until the beginning of the pandemic the sports club was frequented monthly by 1,600 people, now the number of clients hardly reaches 800. Even in these conditions, the administration had to increase the number of employees, in order to ensure the observance of protection measures.

"The same cleansing, but there are several employees disinfecting all devices after each person. It is the guard coach in the hall who, if he sees that two people are working on the same device at the same time, approaches and distances them," specified Alexei Buzu, fitness club administrator.

The gyms and fitness halls of the Republic of Moldova resumed their activity on June 15, after being closed for three months due to the restrictions imposed by the pandemic.
