PGI launches a campaign on the World Heart Day

On the World Heart Day, the General Police Inspectorate (PGI) launched the campaign „Când inima cere, donăm o tonă de putere"( "When the heart asks, we donate a ton of power") to help people in need of blood and plasma. They set out to donate a ton of blood and more than 2,500 donors are needed for this, and today, police officers and friends are urged to join the campaign, Mesager reports.

Paul the Apostle is donating blood for the 24th time. The policeman hopes that his gesture will encourage other people to contribute to saving lives.

"This amount of blood always reaches someone who needs blood and that is in a way from our heart to the heart of the person who really needs this special intervention," said Pavel Apostol, head of department of INSP.

Other employees of the General Police Inspectorate also donated a drop of hope.

"For the first time as a donor, we aim to come with broad support for all those who need life," said Marin Maxian, deputy head of the IGP.

"It's a good step, I feel good after that, if it is possible to help someone, why not. My opinion is that more people have to do charitable deeds ", says Igor Călăraş, donor.

"We have a year with many challenges in which the covid-19 pandemic has entered our homes and affected a large part of the population. A special vehicle of the Blood Transfusion Center will collect a ton of blood for a month, in each district of  Moldova", said Sergiu Paiu, head of IGP.

Experts say that blood donation is good for health.

"Scientists have shown that donating blood or blood components regularly is an indirect factor for keeping healthy blood vessels, and hence it is advisable to donate regularly," said Svetlana Cebotari , director of the Blood Transfusion Center.

Every year, over 80,000 blood samples are taken in Moldova for 130,000 transfusions. Authorities call on people treated with COVID-19 to show solidarity with critically ill patients  and to donate convalescent plasma.
