Protective equipment against COVID-19 for residential institutions

Six residential institutions in Moldova will get protective equipment, disinfectants, masks with transparent screens, but also monitors that contain informative video to prevent and combat the COVID-19 epidemic. These are the centers in Bălţi, Bădiceni, Brânzeni, Cocieri, Hânceşti and Orhei. Thus, both the beneficiaries of residential institutions and their employees will receive individual protection materials under the project "Safety and rights of people with intellectual and psychosocial disabilities in institutions during the COVID-19 pandemic", funded by the European Union, informs Moldova 1.

"The six residential institutions are in the process of reform and people with disabilities, both intellectual and psychosocial, are waiting for a quality life in the communities. This emergency aid will contribute to ensuring the right of persons with disabilities in the institution to healthcare, information, but also to reporting abuses, violations ", said Ludmila Malcoci, director of Keystone Moldova.

"We will donate personal protective equipment for people with intellectual and psychosocial disabilities and employees of six residential institutions. They will be provided with masks, gloves, goggles, visors, disinfectant and protective footwear, "said Peter Michalko, EU ambassador to Moldova.

The project will last seven months and provides a total budget of 60 thousand euros.  Information activities on prevention and protection measures in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic are to be carried out in residential institutions within this project.
