Sergiu Lucinschi, announced in national search by Romanian police

Sergiu Lucinschi, the son of Republic of Moldova's former president was announced in national search by the Romanian police, after he was sentenced to 2 years and four months behind bars for influence peddling and fraud by the Supreme Cessation Court, Moldova 1 TV reports.

Romania’s National Anti-Corruption Directorate, DNA, had accused Pricop of complicity in blackmail and of inciting false statements for a fictive loan. The DNA said that between December 2014 and March 2015 Lucinschi, benefiting from the complicity of Pricop, launched coercive actions against a businessman, Alexandru Horpos, to force him to pay a total of 4 million euros. For that sum of money, Lucinschi promised to get the Directorate for the Investigation of Organized Crime and Terrorism, DIICOT, to stop targeting Horpos. Lucinschi pretended he had influence over a prosecutor who was investigating Horpos’ case.In exchange for the money, he told Horpos that all his problems with the Romanian justice system would disappear. The money was handed over using a fictive loan between Lucinschi and Horpos, and with the advice of a lawyer, namely Pricop.

The son-in-law of former President Traian Basescu, the lawyer Radu Pricop, was acquitted in the same criminal case. He was accused of complicity in blackmail and incitement to forgery in statement.
