Inauguration of the new Palanca crossing point delayed

The opening of the traffic through the new Palanca crossing point, scheduled for today, December 21 is delayed, Radio Moldova reports with reference to IPN.

The Customs Service mentions in a press release that the inauguration of the new crossing point and the opening of traffic are delayed at the request of the Ukrainian side.

The Palanca crossing point was closed on November 5. The measures were taken in connection with construction works. It was then estimated that the new construction will double the capacity to complete the post, which was almost 600 thousand people annually. The new point will be connected to the Odessa - Reni road through a new access road under construction. The budget of the project amounts to 6.18 million euros, of which 4.5 million are granted by the EU, and 1.68 million euros - by the Government of Moldova. The project is implemented by UNDP Moldova.
