Another person died of the flu

Another person died of influenza. This is a 52-year-old man from Comrat. The victim was not vaccinated against seasonal flu.

According to the Ministry of Health, Labor and Social Protection, at present in the Republic of Moldova the flu epidemiological situation is at a low intensity level. According to data from the administrative territories, in March 18-24, morbidity through acute respiratory tract infections was 227.07 cases, below the epidemic threshold, with a decrease of 11.1% compared to the previous week.

44 seasonal influenza cases, including 12 laboratory confirmed, 8,063 cases of upper respiratory tract infections and 386 cases of severe acute respiratory infection (SARI), were recorded in the nominated week. The share of SARI cases accounted for 3.6% of the total number of admissions, irrespective of cause, to the public health sanitary institutions. People diagnosed with influenza received treatment according to national clinical protocols.

TRM.MD recalls that the Ministry of Health, Labor and Social Protection continuously supervises and continuously monitors the epidemiological situation with flu and acute respiratory infections and recommends to the population to take all precautionary measures and hygiene rules, to contact the physician immediately in case of the first symptoms, to avoid self-healing remedies and follow the advice of doctors.

To mention that between 1 October 2018 and 24 March 2019, there were 2,115 cases of influenza.
