Legislation on the employment of foreigners in the Republic of Moldova will be amended

The process of hiring foreigners to work in the Republic of Moldova will be optimized. Parliament approved, in today's plenary session, in first reading, a draft amendment to the legislation.

According to the project, the obligatory character of the notarial authentication of the residential space in the process of documenting the foreign workers is to be excluded.

Also, according to a statement issued by Parliament, the employer will no longer be obliged to pay foreigners an average salary projected on the economy, as currently provided by law. In accordance with the changes provided, the foreign citizen will present for the granting of the right of residence for work purposes a copy of the individual employment contract.

It will be excluded from the legislation the paragraph that regulates the way of documenting foreigners for work purposes based on the List of priority occupations, approved by the Government.

Among the proposals included in the project is the possibility of extending the right of temporary residence for up to three consecutive years.

Also, the legal person who will intentionally present incorrect or inauthentic documents to the competent authority for foreigners for granting or extending the right to stay for work purposes of foreign citizens will be sanctioned with a fine of up to 7,500 lei.

The project to modify the normative framework in the field is to optimize the processes of hiring foreigners to work on the domestic market and to eliminate the gaps and administrative barriers detected, it is mentioned in the informative note of the project.
