More diagnostic services for Moldovan patients

More diagnostic services for patients in our country. The unique program of compulsory health insurance would be added more than 1600 medical services, such as: immunohistochemical tests, molecular genetic investigations, trepan biopsy of tumors for various organs, computed tomography or angiography. The new investigations would, in some cases, exclude duplicates that have taken place so far, putting patients unnecessarily on the road. The initiative is to be proposed to the Government for approval.

"At the level of primary health care, the number of investigations increased by about 70 positions, at the specialized outpatient centers, most new positions were introduced. The patient addresses either the family doctor or in certain pathologies directly to the specialized specialist doctor who examines and establishes the need for certain investigations and fulfills the respective referral for the institution with which the service is contracted,” said the Secretary of State of the Ministry of Health, Labor and Social Protection, Marina Golovaci.

The authorities claim that this is how they aim to eliminate double expenses, especially in the case of patients diagnosed with cancer.

"If there were two or three investigations that had a higher cost before the examination. Now another investigation is introduced which allows for example to do it twice as cheaply, but one instead of three. And that really allowed us to make some savings and redirect them for the introduction of new services," Golovin added.

Completing the unique program of compulsory health insurance with more than 1,600 diagnostic medical services amounts to 40 million lei. The program has full coverage from compulsory health care insurance funds.
