Minister of Justice will request the re-approval of the draft amendment to the Constitution

The Council of Europe has confirmed that the draft law for amending and supplementing the Constitution promoted by the Government is in line with recent opinions of the Venice Commission. This was announced in a briefing by the Minister of Justice, Fadei Nagacevshi. He pointed that this project was adjusted to the recommendations of the Constitutional Court.

"As a result of the agreements reached with the Council of Europe, I inform you that today during the Government meeting I will request the re-approval of the draft amendment to the Constitution with some adjustments to respect the solution pronounced by the Constitutional Court," said Fadei Nagacevschi.

At the same time, Nagacevschi said that what the Ministry of Justice promotes is supervised by the Council of Europe and is in strict accordance with European standards. In this context, the Minister of Justice urged Members of Parliament to help promote the changes needed to separate the judiciary from political forces.

We remind you that, on September 22, the Constitutional Court disapproved the project of the Ministry of Justice to amend the Constitution in order to strengthen the judicial authority.
