At Memorial Easter, believers are urged to refrain from organizing meals in cemeteries

The Metropolitan Church of Chisinau and All Moldova recommends to believers to refrain from holding large meals in cemeteries and drinking alcohol, and that meetings between relatives and other traditions related to the Memorial Easter be held in a small circle of people and privately.

The Metropolitanate also urges the faithful to avoid the traditional crowds around the graves and to respect the sanitary distance. Participants in the services must take into account the advice of the authorities and observe the recommended safety and protection measures.

"People who have returned from abroad are in quarantine, if they have any symptoms, or are part of the high-risk group, are asked to refrain from their physical participation in holy services and to increase prayer in their homes, lighting a candle and making charitable gestures in memory of those close," it is shown in a circular signed by the Metropolitan of Chisinau and All Moldova, Vladimir.

TRM.MD recalls that due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the synod of the Moldovan Orthodox Church was forced to postpone the Memorial Easter, which was traditionally held one week after Easter, for June 6, 7 and 8.
