The amendments to the Food Safety Law come into force today

Today the Law on Food Safety comes into force, which also includes a series of restrictions on the importation of food products, Radio Moldova reports.

Broadly, the law aims to establish a better protection of consumers' health, their interests in food safety, taking into account the diversity of supply of food, including traditional products, and ensuring the efficient functioning of the national market.

The authorities found that it is necessary to make changes because otherwise it would endanger the supply of certain products.

Thus, according to the legal provision, products with a shelf life of less than 30 days will practically not be able to be imported. In the new version, the text "30 days" was to be replaced by "1/3", ie the products to be introduced in the country should not be less than one third of the validity period set by the manufacturer.
