New volunteer rescue station opened in Mingir

A new volunteer rescue and fire station was inaugurated today, July 16, in Mingir, Hancesti district.

The head of the General Inspectorate for Emergencies  (IGSU), Mihai Harabagiu, pointed to the importance of voluntary stations in Moldovan settlements, as they provide safety and primary force of intervention until professional crews come.

According to authorities, following the activity of the new fire station, over 1,480 households, in which 5,000 persons live, can enjoy security and safety. The firefighters will intervene in liquidation of fires, but also in prevention of other exceptional situations. The new civilian rescuers, elected from local inhabitants, have already been trained by professional firefighters, and starting today they can intervene in risk situations.

IGSU also offered the station a special fire – fighting vehicle, as well as specialised equipment. According to IGSU's data, there are over 50 rescue stations in rural areas of Moldova.
