New suspected cases of measles registered in Chisinau

New cases of measles were reported in a one year old child and a 32 year old person from Chisinau. According to the National Agency for Public Health, the presence of measles was confirmed a week ago in the case of two other minors in Chisinau, reports Moldova 1.

The number of measles cases registered this year reached 86, compared to 341 in 2018.

58 cases were confirmed in Chisinau, in Drochia - 18 cases, in Ocniţa - 6, in Ialoveni - 2, in Glodeni, Briceni, Donduşeni, Edineţ and Stefan Voda – by one case.

Epidemiologists remind that measles is a highly contagious disease and is spreading rapidly. Measles signs and symptoms appear around 10 to 14 days after exposure to the virus. Pneumonia is the most common cause of measles death.
