Child abuse on a rise

The number of child abuse is on a rise. The reasons would be parents' migration, poverty or problems faced by families in providing quality education to children. In this respect, the Municipal Directorate for the Protection of Child's Rights launched the awareness campaign aimed at preventing and combating child abuse. The campaign will develop for a month period and will address solutions to prevent abuse, Mesager reports.

"We will have meetings with parents to discuss this topic, we will go to educational institutions, we will distribute leaflets, we will have meetings with children of different age groups. Neglect has several forms of manifestation, and each of these forms is dangerous because it affects the psychological formation of the child, "said Lucia Caciuc, head of the Municipal Directorate for the Protection of Child's Rights.

"I welcome the initiative promoted by the Municipal Directorate for the Protection of Child's Rights, which relates to the campaign to inform and raise awareness of the society in order to prevent and combat child neglect. The campaign is welcome and the police will provide the necessary support to inform the community about this", said Alexei Grosu, a representative of the Municipal Directorate for the Protection of Child's Rights.

Last year, the National Center for Child Abuse Prevention registered nearly 290 family negligence complaints, over 150 of which were confirmed. According to the municipality, 120 notifications of abuse and violence against juveniles have been filed in the last two months.
