Investigation officer, detained in flagrant with bribe of 4 thousand euros
An investigating officer from the Ciocana Police Inspectorate in the capital was arrested yesterday evening, suspected of influence peddling.
According to the Anti Corruption Prosecutor's Office, the policeman is suspected of allegedly receiving 4 thousand euros from a man, criminally investigated for smuggling. In exchange for this amount, the officer claimed that he could influence his colleagues and prosecutors to return the goods that have been collected during the search and to classify the file.
The policeman was detained in flagrant crime immediately after receiving the alleged money and placed in custody for 72 hours. He is criminally investigated for committing the influence trafficking offense and risks a sentence of up to 6 years in prison.
It should be noted that, at the time of the crime, the investigating officer was suspended from his position, being on leave for the care of the child.
