Eggs and poultry meat from Ukraine, prohibited in Moldova

Eggs and poultry meat from Ukraine are prohibited in Moldova. The temporary measure comes to prevent the introduction of bird flu and is valid until the World Organization for Animal Health declares the neighboring country free from bird flu.

Thus, the National Food Safety Agency will monitor and examine every request of the economic operators regarding the import of the respective products, regardless of the country of origin. Likewise, the Republican Veterinary Diagnostic Center must ensure, in an emergency manner, the examination of evidence in case of suspected avian influenza.

In an informative note, the Ministry of Agriculture, Regional Development and Environment gives assurances that Moldova has sufficient domestic production to cover the demand. In 2019, 14 700 of over 18,400 tons of poultry meat and poultry products imported by our country came from Ukraine.
