The pension could also be requested by proxy

The right to a pension could be claimed by proxy. With this legislative initiative comes the Ministry of Health, Labor and Social Protection (MSMPS). According to the authorities, the need for this change results from the multiple addresses received from people who due to their health condition cannot travel to submit the application in person, including from Moldovans abroad. The draft law is to be voted by the Parliament, Moldova 1 reports.

"The draft law provides for the establishment of the right to the old-age pension, the disability pension, as well as the survivor's pension on the basis of a power of attorney. That is, the person who is entitled to determine a type of pension that is stated in the power of attorney may determine the person who is entitled to apply to social security structures to determine his right to one of those pensions," said the Minister of MSMPS, Viorica Dumbrăveanu.

In turn, citizens believe that the legislative change will help the elderly, people with disabilities and those who have gone abroad to obtain the allowance more easily.

"I agree 100%, because he needs help and a responsible person, not to mislead the pensioner, or the disabled person, or the person with a disability," says a man.

"It wouldn't be bad if people stay at home and these helpless people stay in bed, no problem," says one woman.

At the same time, the MSMPS announced that from July 1, the allowance for people who retired after 1999 will be recalculated.

"The recalculation is established based on the application submitted by the person to the territorial social insurance house", Viorica Dumbrăveanu also mentioned.

In the Republic of Moldova, there are over 170 thousand retirees.
