Over 5,500 family physicians and nurses are fighting from the front line with COVID-19

Doctors and nurses continue to fight the virus from the front lines. They play an important role in this difficult period for the healthcare system in our country. In addition to the medical services they have provided so far, they have also been involved in testing, treating and supervising patients infected with the new Coronavirus who receive treatment at home, reads a press release of the Ministry of Health, Labor and Social Protection.

On April 10, home treatment of patients with mild COVID-19 was started. Since then, 5,560 physicians and nurses have been trained to treat people infected with the new type of Coronavirus.

During this period, about 6,200 primary samples and about 8400 control samples were taken from home by the mobile teams, and depending on their results, the family doctors prescribed the treatment of the patients.

Moreover, primary care workers are also involved in the recruitment of convalescent plasma donors for patients with severe and extremely severe forms of COVID-19.

At present, there are 3062 patients with mild forms of COVID-19 in active treatment at home, and 7273 have been treated and are still being monitored by family doctors.
