Helicopters produced illegally in Criuleni were to reach the CIS

The Prosecutor's Office for Combating Organized Crime and Special Cases jointly with the National Investigation Inspectorate of the IGP of the Ministry of Interior announces about documenting, for several months, the illegal activity of a well-organized group of people specialized in helicopter production.

The aircrafts close to the "Ka 26" helicopter model were produced in illegal conditions, and will be exported illegally to the CIS countries.

At this moment, the prosecutors and the police are conducting searches at the production base, located in a locality from Criuleni district, on the bank of the Nistru river and in the homes of the persons involved, in order to get the necessary evidence.

Most of those involved in the production and assembly process, including the organizers and leaders of the "illegal business", are residents of the Transnistrian region.
A criminal case was initiated for acts of preparation of smuggling of aircraft by two or more persons (art. 248 para. (5) Criminal Code).

The searches carried out today found that, at the moment, there are over 10 helicopters on the production lines at different stages of completion, all produced in the absence of the necessary permits and documents of origin for the parts and equipment used.

Based on the results of the searches and the first hearings, related to the results of the special investigative measures, it will be decided on the status and the procedural measures of coercion applied both regarding the persons involved and the goods.

For such actions, the legislation of the Republic of Moldova provides for a sentence of 3 to 10 years in prison.
