The President of the ASM will be elected on 9 April
Academician Ion Tighineanu is the only candidate for the leadership of the Academy of Sciences of Moldova (ASM). The contest was organized transparently, even if there were some criticisms. This was mentioned by academician Mitrofan Ciobanu, chairman of the Commission for the election of the President of the ASM. According to the regulation, on 9 April, when the General Assembly of the ASM will be summoned, its members are to vote by secret ballot on Ion Tighineanu's candidacy. The academician says he is ready for this job, reports Moldova 1.
"I'm ready because I have activated my whole life consciously in this institution. I know the situation, I know the problems, I have passed through schools in the West and I think I will submit all my knowledge, the experience to solve the problems faced by the scientific community. I hope with the support of the members of the Academy we will be able to further develop the scientific research in the Republic of Moldova," said Ion Tighineanu.
