First case of COVID-19 confirmed in prison
The first case of COVID-19 confirmed in penitentiary. It is about a detainee, who has been in pre-trial detention for almost three years. He was diagnosed with coronavirus following a test taken on Friday, Mesager reports.
The detainee was tested after he had symptoms, including high fever, for five days, and one of his lawyers was positively confirmed after performing the test at a private clinic, later he was transferred to Hospital Penitentiary No. 16.
According to the lawyer, his client could have contacted the virus while he was at the Chisinau Court, based in Buiucani.
The National Authority of Penitentiaries has not yet commented on the situation.
