Tourism related issues and prospects for promotion, discussed at the Government

The authorities shall improve the legislation in tourism field within 2 months. The main issues in the tourism sector and prospects of promoting our country as an attractive tourist destination were discussed in a meeting with the Government involving representatives of Moldovan tourism associations . The necessity of developing the infrastructure of the tourist objectives, the usefulness of extending the liberalized visa regime between Moldova and other states and strengthening actions to promote the cultural heritage will be the priorities of the authorities in this regard, reports Moldova 1 TV.

"In the past  years,  there is an increase in the flow of foreign tourists to Moldova, this is due to several joint efforts. He is no longer that traditional tourist who comes only in groups with a very well-established stay, but he is a tourist who likes to form his own tourist route  by himself  and is looking for gastronomic, wine, cultural, tourist, festival, adventure, "said Rodica Verbeniuc, director of the investment agency.

In order to facilitate the access of the population to tourism services and to reduce the tax evasion, Cristina Frolov, the president of the National Association of Inbound Tourism proposed to change the VAT rate for tourism.

One way that would improve access to tourism services is mobile applications, but also the move to a digitized form of document completion.

According to Prime Minister Ion Chicu, in order to improve the tourism sector, Moldova should take over the experience of other countries.

" Our country has what to show to people, we have tourism potential,  we just have to manage things properly", said the prime minister.

According to official data, in the first 9 months of last year, Moldova was visited by over 15,000 foreign tourists, which represents an increase of over 4% compared to the similar period of 2018.
