Social projects in Moldova with the financial support of Japan

The Government of Japan has allocated $267,000 to implement four social projects in the country's districts. These are non-reimbursable loans granted under the Kusanone project. Two projects are for purchasing medical equipment in two district hospitals in Edinet and Falesti, but also for repairing the roof and canteen in two gymnasiums in Drochia and Floresti districts. For over ten years, under the Kusanone program, the Government of Japan has invested about three million US dollars, TV Moldova 1 reports.

"We are very pleased to have signed the four projects. It is about assistance in the district hospitals that lack modern equipment and we have given it, and in the schools. The problem is that water leaks, health problems. For children, conditions are very important," said Masanobu Yoshii, Japan's ambassador to Moldova.

"We have asked the Government of Japan for a grant project for the modernization of the equipment in the maternity ward. We hope it will increase the safety of newborns and their mothers as well as quality and patient satisfaction," said Anatol Gutu, a representative of the District Hospital in Edinet.

"We will refurbish the gymnasium canteen. We will change the ceiling, the floor, we will buy everything needed for a canteen," said Maria Vetricean, director of Domulgeni gymnasium (Floresti).
