Wearing a mask in open public spaces, challenged

The obligation to wear a protective mask in open public spaces in Chisinau was challenged in court by a law firm. According to some lawyers, the decision adopted by the Extraordinary Municipal Commission in Public Health would be illegal, and the establishment of the obligation - unconstitutional, reports Moldova 1.

The decision was approved by the Extraordinary Public Health Commission of Chisinau in the November 20 meeting, according to which, all persons have the obligation to wear protective masks in open public spaces. Also, the protection measure by covering the nose and mouth remains valid for enclosed spaces, including public transport.

Meanwhile, thousands of health workers for nearly a year have been working tens of hours in a row in special suits, visors, gloves and providing the necessary medical care to people infected with the new Coronavirus. The mayor of the capital came today with an exhortation to the people to wear protective masks.

"I beg you very much, at least out of respect for those who do everything possible to save human lives, they are the ones who wear the equipment every day and are tired because someone probably does not want to respect, so are the teachers who wear masks every day, dozens thousands of teachers, it's still complicated for them, it's hard for them - they are of different ages. Let's stop complaining and do everything we can to minimize the number of cases, not put additional restrictions or harsh restrictions, not to close activities as has happened and continues to happen in the vast majority of cities in the world. Please be understanding and responsible. I have dear acquaintances who passed away because of COVID-19," said the mayor.
