The SIS is back under the President’s authority

The Security and Intelligence Service (SIS) is under the authority of the President of the Republic of Moldova. A project to this effect was voted in the first reading by the parliamentary majority at today's Legislative sitting.

The draft was voted by 61 MPs.

"We will remove this service from the control of a party that used the SIS against its political opponents. We will closely monitor this service," said deputy of the Bloc "ACUM", Igor Grosu.

On the other hand, Democratic Party’s MPs said that "is an attempt to turn SIS into a foreign service subsidiary as long as the president is investigated of serving foreign interests."
