Students who purchase the bachelor's thesis may be expelled

Bachelor theses purchased online have become a phenomenon. Thus, three to four months before students submit their works, on social networks and not only are more and more announcements about the sale of these works. Respectively, with several hundred euros anyone can get a thesis ready written, but also adjusted to the requirements of certain higher education institutions. However, the universities in the country are trying to prevent these illegal businesses, reports Moldova 1.

To find out the cost of a written thesis in a few weeks, the Moldova 1 team contacted several bidders.

In Moldova, writing the thesis for a fee is not punished by law.

"We find on the Internet a lot of ads that inform us that they provide services for the elaboration of the thesis and master's theses. The state institutions can easily detect them as not only electronic but also legal addresses by which to identify these persons. There are possibilities to stop this phenomenon,” mentioned Grigore Belosteicinic, rector of ASEM.

In the fight with the plagiarized or bought theses, the universities of the country develop anti-plagiarism software. The Technical University of Moldova has a modern program for three years.

"It is a system that can very quickly verify the similarity of several works between them. Since we implemented this system, very few theses with a similarity have been identified, because they are still technical projects and it is more complicated to plagiarize them. Last year, we had 11 theses with a similarity higher than 20%," said Dinu Ţurcanu, UTM Vice Chancellor.

Also at the Academy of Economic Studies of Moldova, there is a system by which the students' bachelor's or master's degree works are verified.

"The main purpose of this system is to prevent the plagiarism situation, to educate the person what to do in order not to reach the plagiarism situation and to work on this material to bring it to the existing norms," said Constantin Sclifos, ASEM main programmer.

Students caught with such purchased works may be expelled.
