Financial resources will be allocated to address the consequences of the rains

The Commission for Exceptional Situations decided to allocate 2.062 mln lei to the Executive Committee of ATU Gagauzia, where several houses and lands from different localities were severely affected, including from the city of Comrat. Also, two kilometers of gas network and over a kilometer of local roads were damaged.

According to a government statement, the financial means will cover the damages of the owners whose houses need to be demolished or have been partially damaged as a result of the floods. In total, 45 homes were damaged, eight of which cannot be repaired and are to be demolished. Other houses are to be purchased or built for these families.

"We are on the verge of winter and it is necessary to very operatively provide a place to live for the families who have suffered. We also count on the support of local public authorities to identify additional resources to compensate for the damage needed in this context. It is also very important to continue the investigation of the case in order to identify the reason why such a large number of houses were flooded," Ion Chicu specified.

TRM.MD recalls that, following the rainfall on September 29, the prime minister paid a visit to the city of Comrat, where the existing situation was documented. Subsequently, instructions were given and, during two days, 500 tons of sludge were cleaned and discharged and the gas network was restored. In addition, the Government has allocated 1.8 million lei from the reserve fund, for cleaning the Ialpug riverbed and arranging a protection dam in the city of Comrat.

At the same time, the Commission for Exceptional Situations decided today to allocate a financial aid in the amount of 600,000 lei from the Government intervention fund, for the repair of the internal electrical networks of the “Olymp” Theoretical High School from Costeşti village, Ialoveni district. As a result of the rains, the roof, the study rooms and all the electrical networks of the institution were damaged.

"Here, more than 500 children are learning and we must do everything possible to restore this goal," said Prime Minister Ion Chicu.

The members of the commission also approved the granting of aid in the form of construction materials, necessary to remove the damage caused by the heavy rains of October 13 in the village of Cainarii Vechi, Soroca district. The construction materials will be used to rehabilitate the roof of the town hall building, the kindergarten, but also five houses in the locality.
