Dozens of diplomats and businessmen played tennis for a charitable cause

Dozens of diplomats and business people met at a charity event dedicated to people in need of palliative care. The event at its third edition is organized by a charity in our country, which offers free services to people diagnosed with incurable diseases, reports Moldova 1.

European Union Ambassador to Moldova Peter Michalko came to the event with his wife, Mira.

"We are here to support this noble effort by helping those who need our attention, so they can have a better life," said Peter Michalko.

The competition was held in a friendly and relaxing atmosphere.

"Every member of society is important. There are people who are in great need of help. If each one of us were to get involved, the world we live in would be better," said Uldis Mikuts, Latvia's ambassador to Moldova.

"For me, participating in this tournament is not only a way of playing sports, but also a promotion of a noble cause. Through my small donation I can help people suffering from cancer and diabetes in Moldova,” said Maroş Cramar, an attaché of the Slovak embassy.

"We as a private sector come to raise public awareness about some people who are in the country and are suffering. When we come to this tournament we gather some donations to help them as much as possible,” said Victor Timotin, business representative.

Almost 2,000 euros were collected during the tennis tournament. The money donated by the participants will be used to create a national mobile palliative care network.

"All the funds collected are for palliative care, medico-social assistance and psycho-emotional support offered to people suffering from incurable diseases in the regions of the Republic of Moldova", stated Cristina Sârbu, representative of "Hospices of Hope Moldova".

Over the last three years, some 1,500 people have received qualitative palliative care services, free of charge, at home through the "Hospices of Hope Moldova" Network, which has been active in our country since 2008.
