The best athletes of the year, nominated
The judoka Victor Sterpu and fighter Anastasia Nichita were declared the best athletes of 2020. The assessment was made by the Ministry of Education, Culture and Research, reports Moldova 1.
Anastasia Nichita received this award for the second year in a row. In 2020, she became European champion and won the gold medal at the World Cup.
For Victor Sterpu this year was the most successful of his career. The judo player climbed the first step of the podium at the European Senior Championship and won gold at the European Youth Championships, the tournament being reserved for athletes up to 23 years old.
Fighter Irina Rîngaci was recognized as the revelation of the year. At the last World Cup, the 19-year-old athlete won her silver medal in the 65 kilogram category.
At the same time, Tudor Cîrlan and Valeriu Duminică were chosen the best coaches.
