Medal for Moldova at the European Taekwondo Championships

Stepan Dimitrov won the bronze medal at the European Olympic Taekwondo Championships in Sarajevo.

He achieved two victories in the 58 kg weight category, managing to eliminate fighters from Turkey and Croatia. Stepan lost in the semifinals only to the Serbian Novak Stanic, but he ended up with a place on the podium on the day he turned 25.

His twin brother, Vadim Dimitrov, took ninth place in the same weight category.

According to the National Olympic and Sports Committee, Andrei Balan (68 kg - fifth place) and Tatiana Ţîmbalari (57 kg - ninth place) also competed at the European Championships in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

For the taekwondo fighters from Moldova, the qualifications for the Tokyo Olympic Games follow. The European qualifying tournament will take place on January 30-31 in Sofia.
