Former number one Halep for the first time in the Wimbledon final
Simona Halep qualified for the first time in her career on Thursday for the Wimbledon final. In the semi final she was 6-1 and 6-3 way too strong for Elina Svitolina, tellerreport.com reports.
In the final, Halep will face the American Serena Williams or Barbora Strycová from the Czech Republic on Saturday, who will play against each other later on Thursday on the 'holy grass' in London.
Halep lost only one set on the way to the final: in the second round against her compatriot Michaela Buzarnescu. She never ran into trouble against Svitolina, she got the job done in one hour and fourteen minutes.
In the first set, she beat many more winners than her Ukrainian opponents: 23 to 10. In the second set, the battle went on for a long time, until Halep placed the decisive break at 3-3.
