Local elections: Violations found

So far, there have been two cases of violations of the legal rules in the voting process in the new local elections. Thus, according to the General Inspectorate of Police (IGP), the first incident occurred at the polling station in Lozova, Straseni district, where two candidates for the position of local councilor allegedly caused electoral campaigning.

The second incident was recorded at the polling station in Glinjeni village, Falesti district. According to the IGP, some voters allegedly photographed the ballot paper.

In these cases, evidence is colected, which will serve to establish the existence or non-existence of contraventions and to know other important circumstances for the fair settlement of cases.

As for the turnout, according to the Central Electoral Commission (CEC), in the ten localities, where new local elections are taking place, by 15:00, 6,254 people exercised their right to vote. Most voters went to the polls in Ghetlova commune, Orhei district (38.41%), while in Lozova commune, Straseni district (17.96%).

We remind you that over 22 thousand voters are expected today at the polls in ten localities in the country, where new local elections are taking place. The mayor is to be elected in eight of them.

Polling stations will be open until 21:00. The elections are being monitored by 59 national observers.

According to the electoral legislation, a ballot can be declared valid if at least a quarter of the total number of voters go to the polls.
