Nicu Popescu: We will insist on the digitization and cheapening of consular services

The Chisinau executive will replace the number of employees, will implement a program of digitization of documents within the Consulates in order to simplify the access of Moldovans from the diaspora to the services provided. This will allow faster processing, but also cheaper consular services. This was announced by the head of diplomacy in Chisinau, Nicu Popescu, during the show "Diplomatic Dimension" on Moldova 1 TV, notes TRM.MD.

During the edition, the Minister of Foreign Affairs and European Integration announced the priorities of the foreign policy for 2022. “Our integration continues through practical actions in the European space with and together with Romania. We need to carry out the joint projects set out above. The Republic of Moldova is the only country in the Eastern Partnership that is not in a phase of active crisis, and one of the major objectives is to prevent acute geo-political crises, as all partners in the region are affected ", the official explained.

The quoted source also announced that he will insist on the economic field of development. "Adapting the Diplomatic Service to concrete results, especially in the segment of sectoral diplomacy, cyber security, culture, environmental protection, where there are many opportunities for the Republic of Moldova. We will insist that diplomacy serve the interest of the country's economic development. In order to promote the exports of our products, attract investments and create well-paid jobs, in order to become a prosperous and European country ", Nicu Popescu underlined.

In the segment of developing services so necessary for Moldovans abroad, the head of diplomacy in Chisinau communicated new opportunities. "We had good results, but next year we will have even more work for our colleagues from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, but also for our fellow citizens who are abroad. We want to continue the actions initiated, but we intend to develop our capacities to interact with the diaspora and to streamline and to facilitate access to Consulates and Embassies. We will insist that ambassadors be more accessible to respond to the requests of compatriots. We will send more people to the consulates and digitize the process so that the lines are shorter for services, the documents are processed faster, we are also working to make the consular services cheaper. Next year our firm intention is to gradually improve the experience of interacting with consulates through these methods. This will be possible through a grand digitization program. "

During the edition, Nicu Popescu announced about the achievements of the relevant ministry in 2021 and which areas of activity will be a priority in 2022. Moldova's cooperation with the United States of America and the European Union's agenda for the Eastern Partnership states. Relations with the neighboring states Romania and Ukraine, but also the relationship with the Russian Federation.
