Andrei Spînu reacts after Gazprom accused Ukraine of blocking gas supplies to the Republic of Moldova

The Minister of Infrastructure and Regional Development, Andrei Spînu, came up with a reaction after Gazprom declared that Ukraine is blocking gas supplies to our country. The official states that the volumes of gas referred to by the Russian concern are the savings and reserves of the Republic of Moldova stored in warehouses in Ukraine, which will be paid in full by our country.

"Gazprom, in a style we are already accustomed to, unfriendly, threatens us with further reduction of gas supplies. They accuse Ukraine and Moldova of untrue things. To be clear, all the gas delivered to Moldova ends up in our country. All the gas delivered to the right bank is and will be paid for by us (...). Moldova already has over 200 million m3 of gas in storage. Stop to pressure, blackmail, threats. Together we win our energy independence", says Andrei Spînu.

Starting from October 2022, natural gas deliveries to the Republic of Moldova from the external supplier Gazprom do not cover the entire consumption requirement stipulated in the contract between SA "Moldovagaz" and SAP "Gazprom". According to the Secretary of State from the Ministry of Infrastructure and Regional Development, Constantin Borosan, the deficit of natural gas compared to the contracted monthly volumes is 29% or 73 million cubic meters in October, 49% or 163 million m3 in November and 56% or 229 million m3 in December.

"According to the contractual commitments, the obligation regarding the reservation of additional transport capacities belongs to Gazprom. The capacity reservation can be made both at the monthly tenders and at the daily tenders organized by the Оператор ГТС України", states Constantin Borosan.

We remind you that on Tuesday, November 22, Gazprom declared that part of the quantities of natural gas delivered to the Republic of Moldova by Gazprom would be blocked in Ukraine, which was denied by Naftogaz, the Ukrainian state energy company.
