Andrei Spînu: In September, domestic consumers managed to reduce gas consumption by more than 30%

In September, domestic consumers managed to reduce their gas consumption by more than 30 percent compared to the same month last year, stated today the Minister of Infrastructure and Regional Development, Andrei Spînu. The official urged citizens to continue saving, noting that this "is extremely important", according to Radio Moldova.

"Each of us can control the bill and it depends on each of us what the Republic of Moldova will look like after these complicated times", said Andrei Spînu. He assured that the authorities will help people get through this winter.

TRM.MD recalls that since the first of October, Gazprom has reduced gas supplies to the Republic of Moldova by 30 percent. The Russian concern invoked the unilateral refusal of Ukraine to allow the transit of gas through its territory to our country, which was denied by the Ukrainian side.

Meanwhile, yesterday Gazprom came with a message, in which it declared that it reserves the right to completely suspend the supply of gas to the Republic of Moldova, if by the current October 20, all the conditions assumed in the contract will not be met, referring in particular to the historical debt that it claims from Moldovagaz, in the amount of about $800 million.
