Beneficiaries of the "First Home" Program - dissatisfied with the increase in interest rates on mortgages

Many beneficiaries of the "First Home" Program are dissatisfied with the increase in interest rates on mortgages. They signed a petition calling for the cancellation of the interest rate increase and the intervention of the authorities. On the other hand, the authorities announced that they are working on the elaboration of a support mechanism for the beneficiaries of the Program, affected by this increase, Radio Moldova reports.

One of the beneficiaries of the "First House" project is also Natalia Bzovaia, who has been working as a teacher for 12 years, has several loans, and the rate increase is a huge burden for her family, says the woman.

"Now everything happened very suddenly and it is an enormous uncertainty and I, for example, have to pay another debt. We don't know what to do, it is said that measures will be taken," said Natalia Bzovaia.

The same concern was mentioned by the BCS deputy, Tatiana Cuneţchi. She requested explanations from the Ministry of Finance on the measures that would be implemented to mitigate the risks to which the citizens of the "First Home" program are subjected. The deputy reiterated that starting with July 1, the mortgages granted through this program will increase by about 12%.

"If until the moment of the changes, the minimum income necessary to serve such a debt was 13,880 lei, now you have to have 22,350 lei. I am sure that the income of the citizens will not increase by 60%," saysTatiana Cuneţchi.

In his turn, the Minister of Finance, Dumitru Budianschi explained that soon the Government would come with support measures.

"In the next few weeks, we will have a solution to this problem. We have a large enough budget to cover these risks," Dumitru Budianschi explained.

PAS deputy Dumitru Alaiba also mentioned in a post on Facebook that the authorities were working on a targeted program of support and compensation for the beneficiaries of the Program, affected by latest increases.

The executive should offer compensation both for the beneficiaries of the "First House" Program and for the citizens who bought apartments outside the mortgage loans, said on a TV8 show, the economic expert, Veaceslav Ioniţă.

"Now, for every family, the pressure increases by 20-30%. First of all, what can the state do to these families to pay them compensation through the difference in price increase. Let the state take its share of this growth. Let it say "I pay you half of the increase", said Veaceslav Ioniţă.

TRM.MD recalls that so far, through this government program, 8,030 homes have been purchased, and more than half of the beneficiaries of the Program are families, the rest are unmarried young people.
