In the first six months of the year, Moldovan exports increased 1.7 times

In the first half of the year, exports of goods amounted to about 2.3 billion US dollars, 1.7 times more than in the same period last year. According to the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS), most goods were exported to European Union countries (61.6%).


Most goods arrived in Romania (29.0%), Ukraine (10.8%), Turkey (9.2%) and Italy (8.5%). Road transport remains the most frequently used for goods exports (73.1%), followed by maritime transport (16.6%), rail transport (9.6%) and air transport (0.7%).

Exports of domestic goods amounted to over 1.7 billion US dollars (74.5% of total exports), increasing 1.7 times compared to the similar period of 2021, a fact that contributed to the increase in the total value of exports with 54.3%. At the same time, the share of re-exports of goods after processing was 11.4%, and that of classic re-exports of goods – 14.1%

In the same period, goods imports totaled about 4.3 billion US dollars, 33.1% more than in the same period last year. Romania (16.2%), the Russian Federation (15.3%), China (9.4%) and Ukraine (9.1%) were among the top countries of origin of goods imports.
